There are better possibilities for trout fish farming in the mountainous districts of Uttarakhand. Actually trout fish are found in cold and clean water, so there are better conditions for the production of this fish in cold mountainous areas. In view of this, the production of this fish has been encouraged in Uttarakhand in the last few years and the result is that now many fish farmers have started producing this fish in large quantities. This fish sells very expensive, so it is also a profitable deal for the fish farmers to produce it.

The thing is that the Uttarakhand government is going to give financial assistance to the farmers for the rearing of trout fish. Although Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has already approved the Trout Promotion Scheme in the cabinet, but now more budget is expected for it in the future. At present, soon the Fisheries Department is going to get Rs 200 crore for this, which will also benefit the farmers. With the help of NABARD under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund, the state can get about Rs 177 crore for this.

Through this, farmers in the state will be given subsidy for making ponds for fish farming. There is a plan to give about 70% subsidy to the farmers. That is, 70% of the expenditure will be borne by the state government, while the farmer will have to invest only 30% of the amount. According to Secretary Fisheries Department BVRC Purushottam, efforts have been made by the state government regarding the production of trout fish in the state, especially Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram had taken several steps to encourage the farmers of the state to produce trout fish in this area.

He said that the Chief Minister has also announced the Travel Incentive Scheme earlier, so soon an amount of 200 crores is going to be received in the first phase. A contract has also been signed with the Government of India under this scheme. The big thing is that after getting financial assistance under this scheme in the state, it has also been claimed that there will be an increase of 200 metric tonnes of trout fish production. Financial help for trout farming in the hill districts of Uttarakhand can prove to be a game changer for the state.

The special thing is that in many places, these fish are being produced by creating a favorable environment for trout fish in band ponds. Due to the high price and demand of these fish, their production is considered beneficial for the farmers.
