Uttarakhand: BJP had to bow down in front of the power of people and social justice, Mahara said Rahul Gandhi’s resolution on caste census has won a historic victory

Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Karan Mahara has described the decision of the Central Government to conduct caste census as a historic and revolutionary step, and also called it a victory of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s public concern based politics and commitment to truth.
Mahara said that Rahul Gandhi raised this issue not just as a slogan, but to make the structure of the country just and balanced. He repeatedly raised his voice from Parliament to the streets that “Jiski Jitni Sankranti Bhaari, Uski Utni Share” – this is not just a demand but the aspiration of the Bahujan Samaj of the country.
On the other hand, the BJP, which had initially openly opposed the caste census and termed it as ‘divisive politics’, has now been forced to bow down to public pressure, Rahul Gandhi’s continuous struggle and the wave of social justice. This change reflects the moral defeat of a ruling party and the victory of public opinion.
Why is caste census necessary?
Karan Mahara clarified that caste census is not just a means of knowing the social equation, but it is the basis for policy making, review of reservation, equitable distribution of resources and ensuring representation.
He said that even today there are many sections of the country which have neither got political representation, nor the expected participation in economic schemes. Without concrete data, any welfare policy is based only on an estimate, which often deepens inequality.
Rahul Gandhi’s struggle is a perfect example
Mahra said that Rahul Gandhi not only demanded caste census, but also communicated with people of every state, every village, and every section through campaigns like Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra and realized that social justice is the key to India’s unity and progress.
He said that it was the foresight of Rahul Gandhi ji, who did not let his voice weaken despite the pressure of power, media propaganda and political opposition. Today the decision of the central government is the result of that struggle and steadfastness.
Appeal to BJP: Do not make it an election stunt
Mahara warned the BJP that this decision should not remain just an election strategy. Its process should be transparent, scientific and fair. He said that now the public does not want only announcements, but effective implementation and practical change.
The BJP should not consider this issue as a mere political compulsion, but should consider it a national responsibility and move forward honestly, inspired by the spirit of social justice.
Karan Mahara said that this moment is not only the victory of the Congress party, but the victory of crores of backward, Dalit, tribal, minority and deprived communities of the country. Congratulating Rahul Gandhi ji, he said that his struggle has once again proved that the real objective of politics should not be power, but service and equality.
