Relief news for electricity consumers of Uttarakhand, 89 paise per unit discount will be available in this month’s bill

There is news of relief for the electricity consumers of Uttarakhand. Now an average discount of 89 paise per unit is being given in the electricity bills of the month of May. This decision is being given as per the tariff regulations of the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission.
In which it has been clarified that if the monthly power purchase cost of UPCL (Energy Corporation) is more than the approved power purchase cost, then it is charged in the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) item in the electricity bills of the consumers.
On the contrary, if the monthly power purchase cost is less than the approved power purchase cost, then it is refunded in the FPPCA item in the electricity bills of the consumers.
Orders given to provide discount
In this way, orders have been issued to provide a total discount of Rs 101 crore (Rs 0.89 per unit). Even before this, UPCL had given an average discount of Rs. 0.30 per unit in the month of July 2024, Rs. 0.52 per unit in August, 2024, Rs. 0.52 per unit in September 2024. 0.23 per unit in October 2024, Rs. 0.70 per unit in October 2024, Rs. 0.88 per unit in November 2024, Rs. 0.85 per unit in December 2024, and an average discount of Rs. 1.19 per unit in March 2025 was provided.

There was huge saving in power purchase cost item for the month of March 2025 as compared to the power purchase cost approved by the Commission for the year 2024-25. This saving amount will be given as discount to the consumers by UPCL under the FPPCA item in the bills issued for the electricity consumption of the month of May 2025.
