Uttarakhand: Officials will monitor health and irrigation schemes, departmental secretary appointed 15 senior officials as nodal officers

The Uttarakhand government has taken an important step towards ensuring transparency, accountability and effective implementation in the health and irrigation sectors. In the sequence of decisions taken in the meeting of the Secretary Committee held under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and chaired by the Chief Secretary, two major initiatives have been taken under the leadership of Dr. R Rajesh Kumar, Secretary, Health and Irrigation Department. On the one hand, 15 senior officers have been appointed as district-wise nodal officers to disseminate information about the major health schemes of the state to the general public and to monitor them. On the other hand, a special inspection team of 13 senior officers has been constituted to check the progress, impact and ground reality of irrigation schemes.
The benefits of all the health schemes of the state, Atal Ayushman Yojana, National Health Mission and other services should reach every citizen. For this, 15 senior officers have been appointed as nodal officers in all the districts. These officers have been instructed to publicize the schemes up to the block level, do a field review of the facilities and submit a detailed report to the government within a week.

In the same sequence, a monitoring team of 13 officers has been prepared to review the irrigation schemes. The government has formed a team of 13 senior officers to know the actual status of the progress, utility and effectiveness of various irrigation projects of the state. These officers will have to visit the designated districts within a week and submit the inspection report to the government. This will include details including the current status of the schemes, feedback of beneficiaries and photographs.

On the other hand, Health and Irrigation Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that it is the priority of the state government that all schemes are implemented effectively at the ground level and their benefits reach the real needy. For this, monitoring and evaluation of schemes is mandatory. By giving responsibility to senior officials, we have created a strong framework of transparency and accountability. Further strategy will be decided on the basis of the reports received and negligence at any level will not be tolerated at all.
