The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, snowfall, lightning, hailstorm on 07 and 08 May for Uttarkashi district and orange and yellow alert for the remaining districts on 06, 07 and 08 May. Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took information in this regard from Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department Vinod Kumar Suman and directed to hold a meeting with the districts. On the instructions of Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Vice Chairman, State Advisory Committee, Disaster Management Department Vinay Kumar Ruhela and Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department Vinod Kumar Suman held a meeting with all the districts through video conferencing on Monday and directed to ensure all necessary preparations in view of the alert. In this regard, the Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation has also sent a letter to all the District Magistrates on Monday. Vinay Kumar Ruhela said that clear instructions have been given by the Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that all the districts should take the alert issued by the Meteorological Department seriously and all necessary preparations should be ensured. He said that in any emergency situation, there should be a quick response. If it is raining heavily, then the Chardham pilgrims should be stopped at safe places for some time and they should be sent forward only after the rain stops.

During the meeting, Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department Vinod Kumar Suman said that on the instructions of Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, an initiative has been started to connect the communities to deal with disasters effectively. The beginning in this direction has been made by Tehri district. Tehri District Magistrate Mayur Dixit has formed a group of five people in each village, who will inform the District Emergency Operations Center in case of any kind of disaster. Their numbers will be available in the DEOC. If the phone of one member of this group is not reachable, then the other’s phone can be contacted. This group will play an important role in the exchange of any kind of information related to the disaster and action will be taken at a fast pace on the information given by them. On receiving information from this, it will help in conducting relief and rescue operations and providing necessary relief immediately in the affected areas.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Executive Officer Administration Anand Swaroop, Additional Chief Executive Officer Implementation DIG Rajkumar Negi, Joint Chief Executive Officer Mohd. Obaidullah Ansari, Rohit Kumar, Dr. Vedika Pant, Dr. Pooja Rana, Hemant Bisht, Tandrila Sarkar etc. were present.

Deploy necessary equipment in landslide prone areas

Dehradun. Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman said that deployment of JCB and other equipment should be ensured in all the landslide prone areas on the travel route and efforts should be made to open the route as soon as possible. He said that through CAP i.e. Common Alert Protocol, SMS is sent to people regarding weather related alerts. It should also be checked whether these alerts are being received by the common people on time or not and the State Emergency Operations Center should also be informed in this regard soon. He said that various types of alerts should reach every citizen, for this a WhatsApp group should be created by adding villagers and alerts and necessary information should be sent through WhatsApp.

If people are giving information, take them seriously

Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman said that if people are giving information related to any kind of disaster, then it should be taken seriously and action should be ensured on it. If any people give misleading information, then FIR should be registered against such people.

If passengers are being stopped, then also make arrangements for refreshments

Dehradun. Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman said that if passengers are being stopped at a place where there are no shops due to bad weather, then proper arrangements for refreshments should be made for the passengers there. Also, coordination should be established with other districts and if it is felt that in case of stopping passengers due to rain in a district, the number of passengers has increased, or there is a possibility of jam, then the passengers should be stopped in another district itself.

Clean the drains from now

Dehradun. Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman said that the drains should be cleaned before the arrival of monsoon so that there is no problem of waterlogging when the monsoon arrives. He said that the rain that is happening now will also reveal which areas are getting waterlogged and what are the reasons for it.
