The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has advised all media channels not to use the sounds of the Civil Defence Air Raid Siren.
Home Ministry’s order to media channels
The order issued by the Home Ministry states that media channels should not use the sounds of the Civil Defence Air Raid Siren on a regular basis. Doing so can reduce the sensitivity of citizens towards the siren.
Use the siren only in awareness campaigns
The Home Ministry said that the sounds of the Civil Defence Air Raid Siren should be used only during community awareness campaigns, so that awareness remains among the citizens and they can respond correctly in any emergency situation.
This is the main objective
The Home Ministry said that the main objective of the order is that if the siren is played repeatedly without any specific reason, people may consider it normal and may not respond appropriately to it during actual air strikes. This may endanger the safety of citizens.
