A team of US Air Force (USAF) officials has reached Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. This four-member team arrived at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport on May 8 by Qatar Airways flight OR-641. The purpose of this team’s arrival is to look into the arrangements before ‘a heavy cargo plane’ arrives in Dhaka. It is being claimed that these officials are associated with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). The huge cargo that is coming to Dhaka will reportedly be sent to Myanmar via the Bangladesh border. It is suspected to contain dangerous weapons. Recently, reports also came out that the US is sending military aid to Myanmar’s rebel groups through the Bangladesh border.

According to the Northeast News report, the members of the USAF who have reached Dhaka include Tara Lynn Alexandria Strider (Logistics Director), David Thomas Reifenber (Product Sales Manager at DFS Group Limited), Michael Cody Thacker (Senior Director of Logistics and Fleet Management) and Staff Sergeant Martin Lucas Vannorsdol. All of them are staying at the Westin Hotel in Gulshan area of Dhaka.

Al Udeid Base Connection

Bangladesh security service sources say that the USAF officers who came to Dhaka are connected to Al Udeid Air Base. This air base is 65 km from Doha. Al Udeid Air Base is also known as Abu Nakhla Airport. Many military resources and coalition forces are present here. It serves as the headquarters and logistics base for US operations in Iraq. It has the longest airstrip in the Gulf region.

Al Udeid houses the USAF’s 379th Air Expeditionary Wing. It is the home base of US Central Command and the Royal Air Force’s No. 83 Group RAF. The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing plays a vital role in providing combat air power and essential tasks such as aeromedical evacuation and intelligence support in many areas.

Bangladesh Army Chief has visited Qatar

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar Uz Zaman went on a two-day visit to Qatar on May 3. He was accompanied by Brigadier General Ghulam Mohiuddin Ahmed, who is the Director of the Ordnance Organization Directorate. He also traveled by Qatar Airways flight QA-639. In such a situation, many kinds of discussions are gaining momentum due to the arrival of this heavy cargo in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh security service sources said that the four USAF officers will stay in Dhaka until the cargo plane with large containers arrives at Shahjalal International Airport. It may contain lethal weapons, which can be sent to the Bangladesh-Myanmar border by road. If these are state-of-the-art weapons, then major changes can be seen in Myanmar’s civil war in the coming times.
