Uttarakhand: Police on alert after Operation Sindoor, IG Kumaon directed officers

After Operation Sindoor, Uttarakhand is on high alert. Uttarakhand Police is also on alert after the action of the Indian Army. Vigilance has been increased by the police across the state. In this episode, IG Kumaon Ridhim Agarwal, after taking charge of Kumaon region, went down to ground zero and took stock of policing. IG Kumaon Ridhim Agarwal instructed the station in-charges to maintain law and order. He also said that strict action will be taken in case of negligence.

IG Kumaon Ridhim Agarwal instructed the station in-charges that the station in-charge should not consider himself a big boss and should also go on patrol himself. He said that just taking credit for picket, patrolling checking will not work. Rather, positive results of basic policing should be seen on the ground. Apart from this, action will be taken against the station in-charge and the investigator for negligence in crimes related to women. He gave instructions to take effective action on crimes related to women. He said that the police should cooperate in getting compensation to the victims.

IG Kumaon ordered an inquiry against 4 investigators who were negligent in the investigation and against the store clerk for not properly documenting the goods in the store. He took the investigators to task and directed the station in-charges to resolve the issues by holding a meeting with the investigators. He said that the area officer will be responsible for not resolving the pending IT Act cases. Also, instructions were given to send a monthly report of the action taken in relation to SR cases to the range.

Instructions have been given to take extensive action to break the network of drug smugglers. Also, instructions were given to investigate the property of drug smugglers and take seizure action if property acquired by selling drugs is found. At the same time, instructions were also given to improve the traffic system and to behave decently with the tourists in view of the tourist season. Under Operation Sindoor, as per the instructions of the Home Ministry, instructions were given to increase the police presence as much as possible, to deal with emergency situations, to conduct mock drills in collaboration with police, SDR, NDRF, civil society, NCC, NSS and Scout and Guide.

Campaign was also run in Dehradun

Amidst tension between India and Pakistan, Dehradun Police conducted checking campaign late at night. All officers including SSP were present in the area and took stock of the vigilance. Police checked vehicles by putting up barriers on interstate/inter-district borders and internal routes. Also, police did checking with BDS team and dog squad at important places, bus stand, railway station etc.
