Uttarakhand: Diversion, parking and route plan issued in Haridwar due to Buddha Purnima bathing festival, know where to enter

In view of the heavy crowd and possible number of vehicles in Haridwar on the occasion of Buddha Purnima Snan (Buddha Purnima 2025) festival, Haridwar Police has prepared a traffic plan. Which will be effective from 12 o’clock on the night of 11 May till the end of the bathing festival. The police has appealed to all the devotees and local citizens to follow the traffic plan.

Traffic plan for urban area

  • During the bathing festival, heavy vehicles will be stopped at the Haridwar border itself.
    If the traffic pressure is high, then the vehicles will be diverted from Nagalimarti and brought to Bairagi Camp Parking or Hoarding Area.
  • Chila Marg will be open only for vehicles coming to Haridwar from Rishikesh.
  • If the traffic pressure increases at Chandi Chowk, one-way traffic will be implemented from 4.2 diversion point..
  • In normal conditions, vehicles will be sent towards Singhdwar and Shankaracharya Chowk via Gurukul Kangri.
  • In case of high pressure on the toll plaza, vehicles will be removed from the canal track.
  • Buses going towards Dehradun and Rishikesh will be diverted from Mohand Marg.

Route and parking arrangements for vehicles coming from outside

  • Vehicles coming from Delhi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Punjab will enter Haridwar from Gurukul Kangri via Narsan, Mangalore, Core College. Parking arrangements will be at Alaknanda, Deendayal, Pantdweep and Chamkad Island.
  • In case of heavy crowd, there will be parking arrangement at Bairagi Camp via Nagalimarti, Laksar, Ferupur.
  • Vehicles coming from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana will be diverted towards Dehradun and Rishikesh via Saharanpur, Mandawar, Bhagwanpur, Saliyar.
  • Small vehicles coming from Moradabad and Najibabad will come via Shyampur and Chandichowki, while large vehicles will reach Gaurishankar and Neeldhara parking via 4.2 diversion point.
  • Vehicles coming from Dehradun and Rishikesh will reach Haridwar via Nepali Farm and Raiwala. Parking will be at Laljiwala, Pantdweep and Chamkadar Island.
  • Vehicles returning from Chardham to Delhi or Meerut will leave via Chandichowk and NH-344. Vehicles going towards Najibabad will be sent via Shyampur.

Traffic plan for Vikram and auto rickshaws

  • Autos coming from Dehradun, Raiwala will come only till Jai Ram Mor and will return from there.
  • Autos coming from Jwalapur and Pul Jatwara will be sent back via Ranipur Mor, Devpura.
  • Vikram coming from BHEL will be sent towards Kankhal via Bhagat Singh Chowk, Tibdi Gate, Ranipur Mor.
  • Entry of all types of autos, Vikrams and taxis will be completely banned from Laltara Bridge to Shivmurti.
  • Haridwar Police has appealed to the devotees, drivers and local citizens to follow the traffic plan and cooperate in making the safe, well-organized and peaceful bathing festival a success.
