The Congress office located on Ranikhet Road turned into a political arena on Monday. Former MLA Ranjit Singh Rawat and the police came face to face. The dispute escalated so much that a heavy police force had to be deployed on the spot and many Congress supporters had to be detained.

The matter heated up when the police team that entered the Congress office allegedly broke the lock and entered. Enraged by this action, former MLA Rawat had a heated argument with the police and alleged that the administration was deliberately hindering the activities of the Congress. Congress supporters raised slogans opposing the police action. A heated debate was also seen between the two sides.

Police detained Congress supporters

During the uproar, the police have detained many supporters of the former MLA. At the same time, Congress workers allege that the police broke the lock and entered the office without any notice. Former MLA Ranjit Singh Rawat has described this action of the police as dictatorship. The former MLA said that the administration is trying to suppress the voice of the Congress at the behest of the BJP.
