Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai said that the Indian Armed Forces on Sunday (May 11, 2025) sent a message to its Pakistani counterpart on the ‘hotline’, highlighting the ‘violation’ of the consensus reached between the two armies a day earlier and said that if such an act was repeated later, India would respond in a ‘strict and clear’ manner.
Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to stop military action on May 10, New Delhi on Saturday accused Islamabad of violating the agreement. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told reporters late on Saturday (May 11, 2025) that Pakistan was called upon to take appropriate steps to end these violations and deal with the situation with ‘seriousness and responsibility’.
Any threat will be met with decisive force
“These violations on Saturday (May 20, 2025) night and Sunday (May 11, 2025) morning were responded to strongly and dealt with as required,” the DGMO told reporters. Lt Gen Ghai said the Indian armed forces have so far exercised “great restraint” and “our actions have been focused, measured and non-provocative”. “However, any threat to sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of our citizens will be met with decisive force,” he added.
India sent a message to Pakistan on the hotline
The DGMO said, “We sent another message on the ‘hotline’ to our counterpart earlier on Sunday (May 11, 2025), highlighting the violations of the consensus between the DGMOs on May 10 and said that if this is repeated tonight, later or thereafter, we intend to respond to them in a strong and punitive manner.” He also mentioned the complete freedom given to military officials to retaliate in case of any violation of the consensus reached between India and Pakistan to stop military action by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi during the day.
