American hostage of Hamas, Aden Alexander, has been released after several rounds of long talks between the Trump administration and Hamas officials. On Monday, Aden met his family after 18 months. Aden was taken captive in a Hamas attack on 7 October.
Hamas announced on Sunday night that it has agreed to release 21-year-old Alexander after several days of talks with the US. Israel has been sidelined from the talks to release Aden Alexander and the Trump administration has spoken directly to Hamas.

After being released from Hamas captivity, Alexander was seen wearing a black Adidas T-shirt and baseball cap. His picture was taken while being handed over to the Red Cross, shortly before his convoy left Khan Younis and headed towards Israel. Where after medical checkup, he was reunited with his family.
What did Hamas say on his release?
In an official statement, Hamas said that Alexander’s release has happened after talks with the US administration and it is linked to extensive mediation efforts aimed at ceasefire, opening crossings and facilitating humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Hamas emphasized its commitment and flexibility to its ceasefire deal and said that serious talks can lead to the release of prisoners. At the same time, Hamas warned about the heavy bombing by Israel that the attacks can harm the lives of prisoners.
Israeli delegation leaves for Doha
Netanyahu on Tuesday confirmed sending an Israeli negotiating delegation to Doha, whose job is to take forward the talks based on the initiative of US envoy Steve Witkoff. Israel has been bombing Gaza since the last ceasefire was broken on March 18.
