India has now stepped towards the era of robotic warriors. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is preparing a humanoid robot. Which will be able to replace human soldiers in the battlefield in future. The purpose of this project is such dangerous missions where human lives are at risk. There this robot will go to the frontline and work.

Robotic soldiers will be in the Indian army

Pune-based DRDO’s main lab Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) is working on this project. The team here has been engaged in developing this technology for the last four years. According to the lab’s senior scientist S.E. Talole, the upper and lower part of the robot have been prepared separately. This machine has already shown success in some internal testing. The special thing is that this robot will be able to work even in uneven areas like mountains, forests.

Full version will be ready by 2027

At present this project is in its advanced stage. Scientists are working on making it more smart and intelligent. That is, whatever instructions the operator gives, the robot can understand and implement them without hesitation. The robot will have three main systems. Actuators that work like muscles. Sensors that collect surrounding data and a control system that understands everything and takes decisions.

What will this robot be able to do?

This humanoid robot will have a total of 24 degrees of freedom. 7 in each hand, 4 in the gripper and 2 in the head. It will not only be able to hold things but will also be able to bend them, push them, open doors, operate valves, and handle dangerous materials like mines or explosives.

Both hands will be able to work together. That is, it will also be able to do things like lifting heavy things or handling toxic substances. These features make it very special.

Soldier equipped with technology

The robot will have proprioceptive and exteroceptive sensors. With which it will be able to understand itself and its surroundings well. It will be able to work in every environment, be it day or night, indoor or outdoor. It will also have the ability of audio-visual perception, data fusion, and strategic decision making.

If it falls, it will get up on its own

This biped robot will be equipped with fall and push recovery. That is, even if it falls, it will balance itself and get up. It will be able to make a map of its surroundings itself and with the help of SLAM technology, it will be able to find its way and navigate itself.

Its work will not be limited to just war

This project of DRDO is not limited to the army only. In the coming time, it can be used in healthcare, space mission and industrial sector. Scientists believe that this technology will not only save the lives of soldiers, but will also make human life more safe and smart.
