Uttarakhand: Vigilance action, ISBT post in-charge arrested red handed with bribe of one lakh

In Dehradun, Vigilance has arrested ISBT Chowki Incharge Devesh Khugshaal of Patel Nagar Police Station red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. Khugshaal was accepting bribe to remove the names of the accused in a land dispute case. The accused will be presented in the Special Court of Vigilance on Thursday.

The complainant told the Vigilance that a person named Javed had recently given an application in a land dispute in Banjarawala. In which the names of his friend and three other people are there. Chowki Incharge SI Devesh Khugshaal was investigating it.

It is alleged that Devesh Khugshaal threatened the complainant that he will get his friends jailed under Gangster Act. In such a situation, Devesh Khugshaal demanded Rs 5 lakh to remove the names of his friends from this application. He called him with Rs 1 lakh as the first installment. On the basis of this complaint, Vigilance formed a trap team.

As soon as the complainant handed over this amount to Khugshaal, the team arrested him. Khugshaal’s office was also searched for an hour. His house was also searched. Director Vigilance Dr. V Murugeshan said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has a zero tolerance policy in corruption cases.

In such a situation, wherever a complaint is received, the vigilance team takes immediate action. Let us tell you that on Tuesday also, Nazir Virendra Singh Kaintura of Dhanolti Tehsil was arrested with bribe. He was produced in the court on Wednesday, from where Kaintura has been sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days.

150 government officers and employees caught in three years

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had launched a big campaign against corruption after the formation of the government in the year 2022. In this sequence, he started the toll free number 1064. Immediately after this, thousands of complaints of corruption started coming on this number. On the basis of these complaints, vigilance has taken action against 150 government officials and employees within three years. Talking about this year, so far 10 accused have been arrested with bribe.

Revolving fund also arranged, trap became easy

Last year, the government also arranged for a revolving fund of Rs 1 crore for vigilance. The government believes that due to this arrangement, earlier people did not come forward in cases of big bribes. But after the revolving fund is created, the bribe amount is returned to the victim soon. Recently, some complainants were also returned their trap money.
