It has finally been decided to remove the liquor shops which have become a major cause of traffic jams and accidents on the busy roads of Dehradun city. District Magistrate Savin Bansal has issued orders to shift four liquor shops to another place. This decision has been taken after the recent meeting of the Road Safety Committee.
DM gave orders to shift liquor shops
During the meeting, the Traffic Superintendent of Police said that due to the liquor shops located at Sunpark Inn Chowk, Bindal Tiraha, Rozgar Tiraha and Chuna Bhatta Tiraha of the city, there has been a constant situation of congestion and traffic jam. Also, the possibility of accidents also increases at these places. The committee had recommended shifting these shops elsewhere, on which the DM has issued orders for shifting within a week.
Many big steps towards traffic improvement
To ensure smooth traffic system in the city, the administration is not limited to liquor shops only, but has started work on many other fronts as well. The process of removing or shifting electric poles which were obstructing traffic at 23 places has started. At the same time, shops built on the roadside are being displaced to make left turns free at 16 major intersections.
DM is monitoring the construction work
Apart from this, police booths will be shifted at 10 places so that there is openness on the road. At the same time, the process of construction of service lane and slip way in Jakhan Sanchar Cut, number six culvert area has also been expedited. Dehradun DM Savin Bansal has clarified that he himself is regularly reviewing and monitoring all these works so that the improvement work can be completed on time.
