Uttarakhand: HIV is increasing rapidly in Dehradun, 1622 cases registered in Doon Coronation

Cases of HIV virus are increasing rapidly in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun. The cases registered in Dehradun’s district hospital Coronation are confirming this. The young generation of the capital Dehradun is suffering the most from this infection. Talking about the figures, 1622 cases of HIV are registered in Dehradun’s district hospital Coronation alone.
Dr Virendra Singh Chauhan, Chief Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Coronation, said that in the recent past, the number of HIV positive people in the capital has increased significantly. 1622 HIV infected people have been registered in Coronation Hospital. Out of which 1619 are undergoing treatment in the hospital. All HIV tests and medicines are available in the hospital.
He said that unprotected sex, use of one syringe by many people due to intoxication, along with that blood is also a big reason for this. Everyone needs to take precautions regarding this. The government is working in collaboration with NGOs to make people aware. Reksha, a member of the social service organization, said that her organization is creating awareness about this. They also motivate people for testing.
Reksha, a social worker who spreads awareness about HIV awareness and the LGBT community, said that she mainly works on her transgender community. She runs a social service organization to create awareness among them. Reksha says that she provides free HIV test facility to all transgender community people in the district hospital.
Reksha says that the problem of HIV in the transgender community is increasing continuously due to lack of awareness. She said that along with the transgender community, awareness about HIV is also flat among people. She appealed to all the people of the society to spread awareness about this deadly infectious disease.
