Uttarakhand: District Sainik Welfare Officer arrested red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 50 thousand

Vigilance has arrested District Sainik Welfare Officer, Bageshwar red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. According to Vigilance officials, the complainant had complained to the Vigilance Establishment that he is a retired military personnel. He works in the Sainik Welfare Department through Upanal.

He has a contract of 11 months. In lieu of extending his service by 11 months, District Sainik Welfare Officer Bageshwar (retired Colonel) Subodh Shukla is demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000. When the complaint was found to be prima facie correct after investigation, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vigilance Establishment Sector Haldwani Anil Singh Manral immediately formed a trap team under the leadership of Inspector.

Taking action as per rules, the trap team of Vigilance Establishment Haldwani today arrested the accused District Sainik Welfare Officer Bageshwar Subodh Shukla (Retired Colonel) native of village Rampur, PO Birsinghpur, Pali, Bandhigarh District Umaria, Madhya Pradesh, Hall resident Guest House, Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Office Premises Bageshwar red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant from District Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Office Bageshwar.

In this case, a case will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation will be done. Director Vigilance Dr. V. Murugeshan announced to reward the trap team with a cash prize.
