Uttarakhand: ‘Goddesses’ are playing important roles in Uttarakhand, IAS officer Anuradha Pal became the first woman excise commissioner of the state

For the first time after the formation of the state, IAS officer Anuradha Pal has been made the Excise Commissioner. After which IAS officer Anuradha Pal has taken charge yesterday. Anuradha Pal is an IAS officer of the year 2016 batch.

Responsibility of Excise Commissioner given

After the retirement of senior IAS officer Harichand Semwal of Uttarakhand on 31 May, the post of Excise Commissioner was vacant. After which 2016 batch female IAS officer Anuradha Pal has now been given this responsibility. Let us tell you that for some time now, the process of appointing women to important posts has been going on in Uttarakhand. This is the first time in Uttarakhand, when a woman has been made the Excise Commissioner in 25 years.

Women officers are getting attention

After Uttarakhand’s first woman Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DM Sonika Singh was given important responsibility as Kumbh Mela Officer. Not only this, Riddhim Agarwal was given the command as Kumaon IG and now Anuradha Pal has been given the responsibility as a female officer on the post of Commissioner in an important department like Excise. At the same time, MLA Ritu Khanduri was made the first woman Speaker of Uttarakhand as the Speaker of the Assembly.

Who is iAS Anuradha Pal?

Born in a small village in Haridwar, Anuradha Pal’s life progressed with initial challenges and her father used to sell milk. Anuradha completed her studies from Haridwar Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and then seeing no better option amid limited resources in the village, she went to Delhi for higher education. She took a Bachelor of Technology degree from GB Pant University and due to the poor financial condition of the family, Anuradha had to work in Tech Mahindra company after doing B.Tech, despite not wanting to.

Had to work as a teacher for finances

While working in Tech Mahindra, Anuradha decided to quit the job and started preparing for UPSC. Still, financial challenges did not leave her and to meet the expenses, she joined the job of a lecturer in a college in Roorkee. During this time, she used to take classes during the day and also started preparing for UPSC.

Passed the exam in the first attempt, so did not join

In the year 2012, Anuradha passed the UPSC exam, one of the highest services of the country, and got All India Rank 451 in the first attempt itself. After which Anuradha Pal joined an IAS academy in Delhi and kept preparing while continuously balancing UPSC preparation and her job. After this, in the year 2015-16, she once again passed the UPSC exam, but this time her rank was such that she joined the highest services of the country.
