On the holy festival of Ganga Dussehra, Haridwar was completely immersed in devotion and faith on Thursday, but along with this, the preparations of the administration also looked dwarfed in front of the crowd.

Vehicles crawled on the roads for hours in Haridwar

Such a crowd of devotees gathered in the entire city including Har Ki Pauri that the roads seemed to have come to a standstill. Vehicles were seen crawling on all the roads leading to Har Ki Pauri, while several kilometers long jam was spread on Haridwar-Delhi Highway till noon.

Traffic system exposed

Lakhs of devotees who arrived from other states for Ganga bath took a dip of faith at Har Ki Pauri and nearby ghats. But this flood of devotion exposed the traffic system of the city. Crowds were seen everywhere on the roads of Haridwar. People were stuck in the jam for hours in the scorching sun.

Ambulances also got stuck in the jam

Due to the jam, many ambulances also remained stuck, due to which the condition of sick children and elderly worsened. People troubled by heat and chaos were seen yearning for water and shade. The route plan of Haridwar police appeared to have failed completely. Despite claims of crowd control, no clear arrangement was visible on the ground.
