New twist in the Bangalore stampede case, 2 top officials suddenly resigned; Know who took responsibility

There has been a new twist in the stampede case outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Two top officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) have resigned. Karnataka Cricket Association Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jayaram have submitted their resignations after the stampede on June 4. Let us tell you that 11 people lost their lives in this tragic incident. The next day, lakhs of people gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium to watch the RCB team, which became the IPL champion on June 3.

Issuing a press release, A Shankar and ES Jayaram said that they are not completely at fault in this unfortunate incident, but taking moral responsibility, Shankar and Jayaram have decided to resign from the posts of Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Both had submitted their resignation to the President of KSCA on June 6.

Karnataka State Cricket Association president Raghuram Bhatt, secretary Shankar and treasurer had argued in the Karnataka High Court that gate management and crowd management was not the responsibility of KSCA and they had taken permission to hold the victory celebration of RCB team at Vidhana Soudha. The program held at Vidhana Soudha was completed without any problem, but after the invitation shared by RCB on social media, lakhs of people had gathered outside the Chinnaswamy ground. Let us tell you that the Bangalore franchise later deleted that post.

In this case, an FIR was registered against four organizations including RCB and Karnataka Cricket Association. On Friday, a session court in Bangalore sent 4 people including a senior RCB official to police custody.
