Australia captain Pat Cummins has given advice regarding the venue of the final match of the World Test Championship (WTC). Cummins says that the WTC final should be held in the country that has won its previous cycle. Before the final match against South Africa, Cummins has advised to hold these matches outside England. So far, the WTC final has been played in England all three times.

Recently there were reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering hosting the final match of the WTC. Cummins also agreed with the idea that the final match should be held outside England, but he said that if the arrangement is not possible then the final should always be held at Lord’s.

Cummins said, from the point of view of logistics, it is easier to hold the final at one place. It would also be good if the winning country of the previous cycle hosts it from next time. But as an option, I think organizing it at Lord’s in every cycle is also a very good place.

Cummins puts ODI World Cup victory at the top
WTC defending champions Australia have reached the final after winning two consecutive series against India and Sri Lanka. When asked about the feeling of winning the WTC, Cummins said that even though winning the Test Championship is an unprecedented achievement, it will be less than winning the ODI World Cup in India. He said, the last four years have been very successful for this team and it has been a big part of our career for the players and staff. We feel that we have been the best team in the world in all different situations and finally keeping the WTC trophy (Mace) with us will be a very good sign, which will be seen not only now but also in the future.

Face South Africa from June 11
The Australian captain said, ‘Winning the ODI World Cup 2023 will be at the top. But I believe that the World Test Championship is a little below that because you play against every other team in the world and you have been able to reach the final for the last few years, so the WTC is also of great importance.’ The final match of the WTC 2023-25 cycle will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s from June 11.
