An important meeting of the general assembly and management executive committee of Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan was held in the secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During this, the CM made several big announcements to promote literature and folk culture in the state.

‘Give books, not bouquets’ campaign will be promoted in Uttarakhand

In the meeting, CM Dhami appealed to the people of the state to start the tradition of giving books instead of bouquets as gifts so that awareness towards books increases in the society. The CM said that efforts should be intensified to digitally preserve the dialects, folk tales, folk songs and literature of Uttarakhand. For this, instructions were given to prepare a comprehensive e-library in the state.

Local language competition will be held once a week in schools

CM Dhami said that speech, essay and creative competitions based on local language and dialect should be organized in schools once a week so that children develop a sense of attachment and respect towards their roots. Along with this, audio-visual conversion of folk tales will be done and they will be taken to the people through digital means.

The amount of Sahitya Gaurav Samman increased

It was also decided in the meeting that the prize money of Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman will now be increased from 5 lakh to 5 lakh 51 thousand. Along with this, the state government will also provide an honor of Rs 5 lakh to those who do long-term literary service. With the aim of increasing the interest of the young generation about the official language Hindi, Yuva Kalamkar Competition will be started, in which young creators of the age group of 18-24 and 25-35 will be able to participate.

Mobile library will be arranged for remote areas

Mobile library will be arranged to take the book culture to the remote areas of the state. In this direction, cooperation will be taken from big publishers so that high quality content can be made available to the readers on every subject. By preparing short videos by Bhasha Sansthan, interest will be increased among children and youth towards local dialects. This will not only strengthen the cultural identity, but will also give a new dimension to language preservation.
