The condition of Pakistan, which is dependent on debt, is getting worse day by day. Pakistan takes loans from all over the world and spends it on terrorism instead of developing its people and country, which the whole world has seen. The economic survey released by Pakistan has revealed that the debt of the neighboring country has reached the highest level ever. This has deepened the crisis on Pakistan’s financial situation. Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb released his country’s Economic Survey 2024-25 on Monday (9 June 2025).
How much was Pakistan’s debt till March 2025?
According to a CNN 18 report, Pakistan has said that by March 31, 2025, its total debt has reached 76,007 billion Pakistani rupees (76 trillion), which is the highest debt ever in its history. This means that this debt in Indian rupees is Rs 23.1 trillion and 269.344 US dollars. This debt of Pakistan has almost doubled in the last four years, as in 2020-21 this debt was Rs 39,860 billion. Whereas in the last 10 years this debt has increased by about five times.
Pakistan’s GDP growth will be low
The economic survey released by the Government of Pakistan states that Pakistan’s GDP growth for the first quarter of the financial year 2025 will be 1.37 percent, 1.53 percent in the second quarter and 2.4 percent in the third quarter. This is happening for the third consecutive year when Pakistan’s GDP growth will be very low.
Pakistan also extends its hands in front of friendly countries
Pakistan extends its hands to ask for relief packages in front of international organizations as well as friendly countries. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif even said that when we go to a friendly country or call, they think that we have come to them to ask for money. He had earlier said that even small economies have overtaken Pakistan and we have been wandering with a begging bowl for the last 75 years.
India has been raising the issue before the IMF and the World Bank that Pakistan is misusing the aid it receives from across the world to fulfill the objectives of terrorism against India. According to the World Bank, India has lifted a record number of its people out of poverty. On the other hand, about 45 percent of Pakistan’s population is living in poverty, while 16.5 people live in extreme poverty.
