King Cobra found on 9000 feet high Mount Everest
In a recent study, scientists have found 10 poisonous snakes in the Everest region. Out of which nine were King Cobras and one was Monocled Cobra. Experts were also shocked to find King Cobra here.
Scientists are also surprised by this incident. According to experts, it is not common for these snakes to be found at such a height. This may be a sign of climate change. Due to the changing climate, these snakes are being found even where their life was not possible. This is not only a warning for biodiversity but also a serious sign for the local ecosystem.
What could be the reason for this?
These 10 extremely poisonous snakes found in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu were later caught and released in the forests. This has created concern for people and scientists. Their sighting in cold and mountainous areas is no less than a wonder. Their habitat is changing due to climate change and rising global temperatures.
Apart from this, these snakes can also spread to new areas through transportation and human activities. Deaths due to snakebite in the Terai region of Nepal were already a matter of concern. In such a situation, their being found in hilly areas is really alarming.
