Responsibilities have been distributed among the posts of seven members in the Uttarakhand Minority Commission. Efforts were going on for this for a long time but now Secretary Minority Welfare Dhiraj Singh has issued an order on this. With this order, appointments have been made to the vacant posts of members. The tenure of the nominated members will be 5 years from the date of assuming office.
Among the members who have been given responsibilities in the Uttarakhand Minority Commission, Farzana Begum as a female member from the Muslim community, Jagjit Singh Jagga of Udham Singh Nagar from the Sikh community, Gagandeep Singh Bedi of Rishikesh, Surendra Jain of Udham Singh Nagar from the Jain community, Yeshi Thuptan of Nainital from the Buddhist community, Nafees Ahmed of Dehradun from the Muslim community and Shakeel Ansari of Champawat have been given the responsibility of members.
The special thing is that the posts of chairman, vice chairman and members were lying vacant in the Uttarakhand Minority Commission for a long time. Apart from the chairman, there are posts of two vice chairman and seven members in the commission. Meetings related to solutions to the problems of minorities have not been held in the commission since August 28, 2024. This is because neither the chairman nor the vice chairman and members were present for the meeting in the commission. Earlier, the post of chairman in the commission has been vacant since December 23, 2023. Similarly, the post of a vice chairman became vacant on March 9, 2024.
On August 29, 2024, there was a vacancy in the post of second vice chairman as well. Since then, necessary meetings are not being held in the commission. Now the government has distributed responsibilities on the posts of 7 members. Now soon responsibilities can be given on the posts of chairman and vice chairman as well. To run the work in the commission, meetings can be held by giving the charge of chairman to any member.
