Rules will change from August 15 regarding Fastag, a pass for one year will be made for ₹3000

If you drive then there is important news for you. The central government is going to change the rules of FASTag from August 15. Under this initiative of the government, a FASTag based annual pass worth ₹ 3,000 is being introduced from August 15, 2025. This pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever is earlier. Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has shared this information on the social media platform and said that this pass has been specially designed only for non-commercial private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans etc.) and it will make seamless travel possible on national highways across the country.

A separate link will be made available

The Union Minister also informed that a separate link will soon be made available on the Highway Yatra App and NHAI/MoRTH websites for activation or renewal of annual pass, making the process simple and hassle-free. He said that this policy will address the long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a radius of 60 km and will make toll payments seamless through a single easy transaction.

What is FASTag?

FASTag is a device that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable toll payments to be made directly from the prepaid account linked to it. It is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle and enables you to pass through toll plazas without stopping for cash transactions. You need to recharge/top up the tag as per your requirement.

Benefits of FASTag

There are many benefits of using FASTag. On using it, the customer receives SMS alerts on his registered mobile number for all transactions made in his tag account. The customer does not have to worry about carrying cash for toll payments. Customers can recharge their tag account online through debit card or net banking. Apart from this, customers can view their statements by logging in to the FASTag customer portal.
