According to a report published in Reuters quoting a German diplomat, the foreign ministers of Germany, France and Britain are planning to hold nuclear talks with their Iranian counterparts in Geneva on the coming Friday. The three nations are trying to find a diplomatic solution to the Israel-Iran conflict. For this, they will also meet Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Talks will be held with the consent of America
According to the German diplomat, first of all the ministers of all the three European countries will meet the top diplomat of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, at Germany’s permanent mission in Geneva. After this, there will be a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister. This conversation will be held with the consent of the United States.
Concerns increased due to Trump’s statement
Actually, US President Donald Trump has not given any reaction on America’s involvement in Israel’s military operation. This has increased the concern that the crisis may increase further. However, Trump said on Wednesday that he has not yet taken a final decision about allowing US military forces to attack Iran. He would prefer to wait for now.
Talks on guarantee on nuclear program
It is believed that all three countries want to negotiate with Iran and convince it that it will keep the nuclear program limited and will use it only for civilian purposes. Actually, Israel says that it will eliminate Tehran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons, while Iran says that it is not using the nuclear program for military purposes.
German Chancellor had given advice to Iran, Foreign Minister said this
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had appealed to Tehran to reduce tension while supporting Israel. The Chancellor had also said that otherwise they will have to face destruction. On the other hand, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful appealed to the Iranian leaders to work towards a solution and give assurances on the nuclear program. He reiterated in a press conference held in Berlin that he is ready to contribute to a diplomatic solution between the two countries.
Talks with Iran
German Foreign Minister Wadeful, along with his French and British counterparts and the EU foreign policy chief, held a telephone conversation with the Iranian Foreign Minister on Monday and made a clear proposal. Wadeful stressed that Tehran should take the first step towards reducing tensions.
