These days, work is going on to install smart meters in the entire state. The electricity department is counting many benefits of smart meters. On the other hand, consumers are seen upset with the smart meter bill. Two people living in Haldwani Dahriya have been shocked by a huge bill. At present, in both the cases, the electricity department has corrected the consumer’s bill, but questions are constantly being raised on the smart meter of the electricity department.
Bhavani Ram, a resident of CMT Colony in Dahriya, has received a bill of Rs 2.62 lakh after five months of installing a new smart meter. While the bill used to come every month from ₹ 1000 to ₹ 1200 to two thousand rupees, he was surprised to see a bill of more than two lakhs. A family living in front of Bhavani Ram’s house has received a bill of Rs 23 lakh 12000. In such a situation, consumers are raising questions on the smart meter.
The Energy Corporation says that a case of bill generation based on the reading of the old meter has come to light. The corporation and the company installing the smart meter have faced some technical problem while getting the MRI of the old meter done. Due to which this has happened. Executive Engineer Electricity Department Begraj Singh says that a case of a bill of 2 lakh 63 has come up. The technical problem has been fixed. The case of the bill of 23 lakh 12 thousand is not in his knowledge.
There is no error in the bill in the departmental system. Prima facie it seems that the message received by the consumer has been tampered with. If the consumer has tampered with the message, then legal action will be taken against him. Both the consumers are upset after getting the huge bill. Consumers say that earlier their house bill used to come from thousand rupees to ₹ 1500.
The Electricity Department claims that there is some technical problem while changing the old meter to smart meter. Due to which consumers are getting bills. The problem of consumers is being fixed by amending them.
