Uttarakhand: State Congress media in-charge Rajiv Maharshi’s appeal – Congressmen should take Panchayat elections as a celebration of organisational expansion

Welcoming the decision of the Uttarakhand State Election Commission to hold three-tier panchayat elections in the remaining 12 districts of the state except Haridwar, the party workers have been called upon to take it as a celebration of organization expansion.

State Congress Media Incharge and Chief Media Coordinator Rajiv Maharshi said that State Congress President Karan Mahara and Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya have called this election a better opportunity to fight with full seriousness and take the party’s ideology to the masses and for this all the dedicated workers of the party need to work together.

Maharshi said that the Panchayati Raj system has been kept suspended by the state government for a long time in the state. Everything from Gram Panchayat to District Panchayat had become devoid of public representation. After the term of this system called District Government ended, first administrative officers were deployed, then making it a laboratory, public representatives were made administrators and this month once again the panchayats were brought under the bureaucracy. After the order of the High Court, the government is now ready for the Panchayat elections, so this opportunity should be taken advantage of by the party workers. A big dream was realised by the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi’s Gram Swaraj and Rajiv Gandhi’s Panchayati Raj law. Party workers need to participate enthusiastically in all the posts from Gram Panchayat to District Panchayat, so that the Congress can once again get the mandate in the state.

Maharshi said that the Panchayat elections are a rehearsal for the assembly elections to be held in the year 2027, so it needs to be taken very seriously. The background of the Panchayat elections will become the basis for bringing the Congress back to power in the next elections. He said that State President Karan Mahara and Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya themselves will visit the districts to bless the authorized candidates of the party. This is a great opportunity for the party workers to prove their superiority in terms of ideology even at the Gram Panchayat level, no stone should be left unturned in this.
