A meeting was held in Haridwar to discuss investment, AYUSH, tourism and culture with ambassadors/high commissioners/representatives of various countries who visited Uttarakhand on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Diplomats and other high officials from Mexico, Fiji, Nepal, Suriname, Mongolia, Latvia, Sri Lanka and Russia, as well as Vice President Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Vinay Ruhela, Secretary Sachin Kurve, Dhiraj Garbyal, Jugal Kishore Pant, Additional Secretary Abhishek Rohilla, Vijay Kumar Jogdande, and officials from the Department of Industry, AYUSH, Tourism and Culture were present on behalf of the Uttarakhand government.
Underlining the immense potential of tourism in the state and the important work done by the state government for tourism development, Secretary Sachin Kurve, while giving a presentation to the foreign delegates, said that the state has 3 operational airports – Dehradun, Pantnagar and Pithoragarh – and 8 heliports, which ensure important connectivity to remote areas and promote tourism and emergency access. In terms of road network, 46,000+ km of road network connects remote, pilgrimage and border areas throughout the year, with all-weather connectivity across diverse terrains. Ropeways are being developed in the state as an alternate mode of transport in case of water and air sports. Ropeways are being developed in Mussoorie, Yamunotri and Purnagiri. Infrastructure Development and Redevelopment Initiatives in the State: Tehri Lake is being developed as a hub for water and air sports. George Everest Estate has been redeveloped with improved accessibility, infrastructure and visitor amenities. Under waste management, Kedarnath and Badrinath are plastic-regulated areas. Bio-digester toilets are being developed and operated in the state under the Better Toilet Initiative. Under skill development, more than 5500 persons have been trained in the hospitality sector in the last 3 years. Under adventure tourism, many adventure activities including skiing, bungee jumping are present in the state, which makes it a paradise for adventure seekers. Kedarkantha, Valley of Flowers and Harkidun are the centers of attraction in trekking trail.
NauKuchthal, Dayara Bugyal and Dhanaulti are making their special place in paragliding. Rishikesh and Tons, Kali, Alaknanda and Dhauliganga are the centers of attraction in white water rafting and Kosi, Supin and Tons rivers with golden mahseer and trout species are the center of attraction in fishing. In terms of safari, the state has 6 national parks and 7 wildlife sanctuaries with more than 45% forest area. In astronomy tourism, the initiative of Nakshatra Sabha will promote dark skies. In gyrocopter ride, air travel through gyrocopter provides a unique adventure experience.
Highlighting the potential of AYUSH in the state and the excellent work done by the state government, Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande while giving his presentation to the foreign delegates said that Uttarakhand is also known as AYUSH Bhoomi for its picturesque locations, favorable Himalayan climate and spiritual vibrancy. Apart from the gifts of nature, our law and order situation, transparent policies and abundance of skilled manpower have established the state as a leading destination for AYUSH and wellness business. We have well developed AYUSH infrastructure with abundance of skilled manpower to support the AYUSH and wellness industry. We are one of the fastest growing states in India.

Director Industries G M Chandola also made a presentation to the foreign delegates while highlighting the investment friendly industry policies of the state. He gave detailed information to the foreign delegates about the policies made by the state government to develop industries and attract investments.
