Illegal trading of crypto currency is going on on the dark web. People of Himachal are also losing lakhs and crores of rupees by investing in unverified exchanges and coins. In view of such cases coming continuously in the state, the Cyber Crime Cell of the police has advised people to be cautious while investing in crypto currency. In the year 2021, people have become victims of fraud of about Rs 2,000 crore by investing in crypto currency. Despite this, people are still falling prey to fraud in the name of crypto currency in the pursuit of earning many times more profit.
In the year 2024, 135 complaints of fraud in the name of investment in crypto currency have been received by the Cyber Crime Cell in the state, while 35 cases have been reported so far this year. The Cyber Crime Cell has instructed people to immediately call 1930 if they fall victim to such fraud. According to Cyber Crime, many cyber criminals on social media make people victims of fraud by giving many temptations including doubling the money in the name of crypto currency. In view of this, people need to be cautious.
