Prithvi Shaw will not play for Mumbai in the next domestic season: Asked for NOC from Mumbai Cricket Association, MCA said- we will take a decision soon

Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw will not play for Mumbai in the next domestic season. 25-year-old Shaw has sought a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Shaw has been out of the red ball team for some time.

A senior MCA official confirmed to PTI on Monday that a letter seeking NOC has been received from Shaw. The MCA source said, yes, we have received a letter from him and it has been sent to the apex council for approval and a decision is expected to be taken by the evening. In the letter, Shaw wrote that he is grateful for the time spent in the Mumbai team, for which he made his debut in 2017, but now he wants to move on.

Prithvi Shaw’s domestic cricket career has been excellent from the beginning. He made his debut in first-class cricket in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai in 2017 and scored a century in the very first match. He has consistently performed well in first-class cricket and has scored more than 3000 runs.

In the T20 format, he has also played for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Shaw scored a century in his debut match in all three major tournaments in domestic cricket – Ranji, Duleep and Vijay Hazare. Apart from this, he was also the captain of India’s Under-19 World Cup winning team in 2018.

Shaw has not got a chance in Team India since 2021 Prithvi Shaw, who won the Under-19 World Cup for India under his captaincy in 2018, also made his international debut in 2018. He scored a century in his debut Test itself. He played his last international match against Sri Lanka in July 2021 as an ODI and since then he has not been able to play any match for India.
