Today, Garhwal MP Anil Baluni met Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat regarding the conservation and promotion of centers of historical and cultural importance in Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency. On this occasion, a detailed discussion was held on the status, maintenance and development of major archaeological sites and monuments related to public heroes located in Garhwal Lok Sabha.

During this, the Union Minister was especially requested to establish the famous Kanvashram located in Kotdwar at the global level. Correspondence has already been done on this subject in the past. The Union Minister assured that soon a high-level team of the Department of Archaeology will visit Kanvashram. It will evaluate the possibilities of conservation, protection and upgradation of the monuments there.

In this meeting, the conservation and maintenance of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari’s historical Gul (canal) located in Maletha was also discussed. The demand to give it the status of national archaeological importance was reiterated. Along with this, conservation of monuments related to Veerangana Teelu Rauteli was also requested.

During the discussion, it was also told that the local residents living around the Gopinath temple in Chamoli district headquarters Gopeshwar are facing difficulties in building construction due to the strict rules of the Archaeological Department. On this, it was requested that the residents should be given necessary relaxation in the rules for building construction while preserving the dignity and historical importance of the temple. Union Minister Shekhawat assured all possible cooperation for the preservation of the historical heritage of Garhwal. He said that the preservation and promotion of all the archaeological sites and monuments located in the Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency will be taken on priority basis.
