‘If Iran restarts its nuclear program, we will strike again’, President Trump warns

US President Donald Trump has threatened that if Iran tries to restart its nuclear program, we will attack it again. Trump’s warning has come at a time when some reports are claiming that Iran’s nuclear program has not been completely destroyed in the US attack. However, Trump has termed these reports as fake.
The US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has claimed in its report that Iran’s nuclear program has not been completely destroyed in the US air strike. The DIA report has reportedly been leaked and some media channels have run these reports citing this report. President Trump has termed these reports as fake. Trump said in a post on social media that there is an attempt to defame the most successful campaign in military history in the news. Iran’s nuclear centers have been completely destroyed. The White House also termed the reports as fake and claimed that this is a conspiracy to defame President Trump.
Trump claimed that America played an important role in ending the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. He said that by attacking Iran’s nuclear sites, the US has ended the conflict in which civilians of both countries were being killed and property was being damaged heavily. Trump compared these attacks last week to the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan in 1945.
When asked about Iran’s nuclear program, Trump said that Iran suffered ‘hell’ during this 12-day conflict and because of this it has given up its desire to make nuclear weapons. He said, I don’t think it will ever do this again. He also said that Iran will get oil, missiles and defense weapons, but it has completely abandoned the path of making nuclear weapons.
Trump said that at present the relations between the US and Iran are fine. He stressed that just as the attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war, similarly these attacks were decisive in ending this conflict.
What happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
In August 1945, the US dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, killing more than 2 lakh people. After this, Japan surrendered unconditionally and the Second World War ended. This was the first time nuclear weapons were used in a military conflict. Trump denied that according to the US intelligence report, these attacks had only limited effect on Iran’s nuclear program. The opinion of the Pentagon (US Defense Ministry) was also mentioned in the report.
The conflict between Israel and Iran lasted for 12 days
Israel carried out air strikes on Iran’s nuclear bases and also called for the killing of top nuclear scientists, with the aim of preventing Iran from making nuclear weapons. Iran had said that it was enriching uranium only for peaceful purposes. Both the countries attacked each other with missiles and drones, due to which this conflict lasted for 12 days. Last week, Trump ordered air strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, later saying it had completely destroyed the nuclear programme.
