The second term of monsoon in Mumbai is bringing torrential rain. The condition is bad due to continuous rain. The continuous rain for the last few days and now the high tide and the surge of sea waves have created a wave of worry. The high waves rising from the Arabian Sea have flooded many low lying areas of the city. The salty water of the sea has now started reaching people’s homes and shops. A person is seen coming amidst the waves coming from the Arabian Sea to the residential areas.

High tide in Mumbai hit the houses located on the coast of the Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department had already issued a yellow alert for Mumbai. It has warned that heavy rains and high tide may continue till June 26. Areas like Colaba and Santacruz have already recorded more than 80 percent of the rainfall for the month of June.

Due to continuous rain, underpasses, railway tracks and roads have been submerged in many parts of the city, due to which traffic has been badly affected. BMC has informed that high waves will rise in the sea several times between June 24 and June 28. There is a possibility of 4.75 meter and 4.01 meter high waves in the sea on June 26 morning and night.

The effect of the waves of the Arabian Sea is clearly visible in the coastal areas. Water is reaching the doors of houses. In many places, drains and drainage have overflowed, which is also increasing health hazards.

The administration has alerted the citizens. People living in coastal areas have been prohibited from going near the sea. BMC and disaster management teams are on alert mode. In view of the speed of rain, the railways have slowed down services on some routes.

According to the Meteorological Department, the speed of rain will remain in the coming days. The temperature of the city will drop. Due to heavy rains, the waves of the sea have reached the doorsteps of the houses.
