According to the information received, 15-20 workers working in Indira Priyadarshini Hydraulic Project in Sokni Da Kot of Khaniyara area of ​​Dharamshala got washed away in Manuni Khad (river). Local people told that Manuni river remains dry, but due to heavy rains, the river suddenly got flooded.

The workers were living in a shed built on the river bank. Therefore, they got caught in the flood. In Kullu district also, cloudburst occurred at 3 places, Jeeva Nala of Sainj Valley, Shilagarh of Gadhsa Valley and Horangarh of Banjar. 3 people including father-daughter got washed away in Jeeva Nala.

DC of Kangra said – 2 bodies recovered, rescue continues

DC of Kangra Hemraj Bairwa said, “2 bodies have been recovered. SDRF, police, SDM and district administration teams are on the spot. We are counting people to find out the number of missing people. Only after that it can be said how many people have fallen victim to the incident… The situation is not as serious as it is being told…

He further said that there is a small hydroelectric project near Manuni Khad. Some workers lived near it. It is the confluence of many streams. Local MLA appeals to people – do not go near the river-stream

Local BJP MLA Surinder Shori, who arrived to take stock of the incident site, said, “It has been raining heavily since morning… Due to heavy rains, Sainj, Tirthan and Garsa valley is being damaged. Sainj stream is in spate. I request people not to go near rivers and streams… There has been a cloudburst in Tirthan and roads have been damaged. I am getting information that a bridge has been washed away near Garsa…”
