Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat was on a visit to Nainital today. During this, Harish Rawat said that road and air accidents are happening continuously on the Chardham Yatra route. Despite this, the government is not learning any lessons. Harish Rawat said that the government needs to take policy decisions on this.

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who reached Nainital, expressed concern over the continuous accidents during the Chardham Yatra. He said that there is a need to take these incidents seriously and work in a planned manner. Harish Rawat said, similar incidents had come to the fore last year as well. Even helicopter accidents gave us many warnings, but it seems that our system is not learning any lessons from them. This is not just a religious journey, but also a journey linked to the prestige of the state.

He said that if a small mistake or policy mistake is happening in this, which the administration is not able to navigate properly, then the entire state may have to suffer its loss. He said that vehicles like Tempo Traveller coming from outside should take a day’s rest compulsorily. He said, we have requested the government for the third time that Tempo Travellers coming on direct journey from places like Delhi should be instructed to stop on the way for a day. So that accidents caused by fatigue and human error can be prevented. Also, the operation of sign cars (old and unsafe) should also be completely banned.

Harish Rawat clearly said that ignoring the systemic flaws is inviting accidents. Concrete steps are necessary to make holy journeys like Chardham Yatra safe and well organized.
