Excise Commissioner IAS Anuradha Pal asked to run a special campaign for recovery from liquor traders, 01 Additional Commissioner and 03 Joint Commissioners have been given the responsibility of recovery. The news goes on to say that liquor contractors in Uttarakhand are sitting on more than Rs 319 crore of the Excise Department. This amount kept increasing continuously in the form of outstanding revenue in the last 06 years and the officers were able to recover only Rs 18 crore. Excise Commissioner Anuradha Pal expressed deep displeasure over this situation and said that a special campaign should be run for recovery of revenue arrears. She has handed over the responsibility of recovery to 01 Additional Commissioner and 03 Joint Commissioners. However, in the last one and a half to two years, the situation regarding the outstanding amount has been under control.

Newly appointed Excise Commissioner Anuradha Pal reviewed the outstanding revenue on liquor traders / contractors. He found that in the last 06 years (from the year 2018-19 to the year 2024-25) liquor traders have a due of Rs 337.70 crore. Out of which only Rs 18.43 crore could be recovered. Excise Commissioner Anuradha termed it serious and worrying. He said that the target of revenue collection from excise in the year 2025-26 is Rs 5060 crore. In such a situation, there will be a challenge to meet the new target along with the old dues. Therefore, a special campaign should be run from June 25 to July 15 to recover the outstanding amount. In the special recovery campaign, Additional Commissioner PS Garbyal was given the responsibility of Dehradun and Haridwar, Joint Commissioner Headquarters TK Pant was given the responsibility of Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital, Joint Commissioner Kumaon KK Kandpal was given the responsibility of Almora, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Champawat, while Joint Commissioner Garhwal Ramesh Chauhan was given the responsibility of Pauri, Uttarkashi and Chamoli. The commissioner directed that the concerned district magistrates should also be contacted for revenue collection.
