Uttarakhand: Joint workshop of NFDC and UFDC held in Dehradun, discussion on strengthening film production ecosystem in Uttarakhand

A one-day workshop was organized towards establishing Uttarakhand as a major destination for filmmaking. The workshop was organized under the joint aegis of National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC) at a hotel on Sahastradhara Road on Wednesday. The theme of the workshop was “Development of Filming Ecosystem in Uttarakhand”. The workshop was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by UFDC Chief Executive Officer Banshidhar Tiwari, Joint Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, Film Director Shilpa Rao of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and NFDC General Manager Ajay Dhoke.

On this occasion, leading producers, policy experts, senior government officials and various stakeholders associated with the film industry participated. The focus of the discussion was policy reforms, infrastructure development and talent promotion for filmmaking in the state. Banshidhar Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer, UFDC said, “Efforts are underway to establish Uttarakhand as a film production hub under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Government of India.

This workshop is an important step towards establishing coordination between the policies of the state and the Centre.” Banshidhar Tiwari, Director General Information and Chief Executive Officer, UFDC said that the film policy of Uttarakhand has also been made to promote regional language and culture. He said, “Now the subsidy given to regional cinema has been increased from ₹ 25 lakh to ₹ 2 crore. So far, 20 to 25 quality regional films have been made under this policy.”
