Politics has intensified on the demand of RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale to remove the words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ from the preamble of the Constitution. Leaders of all parties including Congress have reacted strongly to this. Now Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has attacked the Sangh and BJP. Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on the social media platform X – RSS’s mask has come off again. The Constitution hurts them because it talks about equality, secularism and justice.
RSS-BJP do not want the Constitution, they want Manusmriti – Rahul Gandhi
Accusing the RSS-BJP, he said that they do not want the Constitution, they want Manusmriti. They want to make the Bahujans and the poor slaves again by snatching their rights. Their real agenda is to snatch a powerful weapon like the Constitution from them. Rahul Gandhi further warned – RSS should stop dreaming – we will never let them succeed. Every patriotic Indian will protect the Constitution till the last breath.
What is Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement? Which created a ruckus
The BJP is celebrating Constitution Hatya Diwas across the country to mark the completion of 50 years of the Emergency. At the same time, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale demanded an apology from the Congress party along with cancelling the changes made in the Preamble of the Constitution. He said that the words socialism and secularism were added to the Preamble of the Constitution during the Emergency.
Retaliation by Jairam Ramesh-Ashok Gehlot
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the RSS never accepted the Constitution. This demand of the RSS is part of a conspiracy to destroy Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s vision of a just, inclusive and democratic India. He said that the RSS’s suggestion is a deliberate attack on the soul of the Constitution. At the same time, Congress leader and former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, in a post on the social media platform X, called Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement regarding changes in the Preamble of the Constitution an open proof of anti-constitutional thinking.
Lalu Yadav also targeted RSS
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav expressed his displeasure on the social media platform X and called the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) the most casteist and hate-spreading organization of the country. He wrote, ‘RSS, the most casteist and hate-spreading organization of the country, has demanded to change the Constitution.’
