15 people died, loss of 29 crores… Himachal flooded, heavy rain alert issued in these eight districts today

Since the entry of monsoon in the state on June 20, 15 people have died so far. Six people died due to floods in Manuni Khad of Khaniyara in Dharamshala, two due to drowning in ravines of Kangra district, one due to lightning in Dhadamb of Shahpur, one each due to falling in Mandi, Shimla and Chamba and one person died due to snake bite in Bilaspur.
Apart from this, two people died due to drowning in Una. 14 houses and seven shops have been damaged in the state in seven days. So far, a loss of Rs 29.16 crore has been assessed.
Body of another laborer found
The body of another laborer who was swept away in the flood in Manuni Khad of Khaniyara in Dharamshala was found near the project site on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Nitin Kumar, a resident of village Pankhuda of Nangal Panchayat of Fatehpur. Nitin’s father Sanjay Kumar was cremated on Friday itself.
Bodies of six people have been found in the accident while two people are missing. SDRF and police teams had reached Manuni Khad at 9 am, while no trace of three people swept away in the flood caused by cloudburst in Sainj Bihali of Kullu could be found even on the third day.
Possibility of heavy rain in eight districts today
The Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rain at one or two places in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on June 28. Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Sirmaur and Solan on June 29, 30 and July 1, while heavy to very heavy rain is likely at one or two places in Chamba, Kullu, Shimla and Mandi.
