Forms will have to be filled, documents will have to be shown… EC started special intensive verification in Bihar; What all has changed for voters?

The Election Commission, which has moved towards completely eliminating the irregularities related to the voter list, has made a historic beginning of the verification of the voter list from Bihar. On Saturday, the Commission started the work of intensive verification of the voter list simultaneously in all 243 assembly constituencies of the state.

During this time, all 7.89 crore voters of the state will have to fill a new counting form again. Along with this, they will also have to provide proof of being a resident of the country and their stay in the state.

BLOs will not be able to work until the verification is complete

According to the Commission, instructions were also given to keep the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) engaged in the campaign free from their basic responsibilities till the counting is completed. All divisional commissioners and district magistrates are ensuring compliance of this. According to the Commission, the Constitution of India is supreme. All citizens, political parties and the Election Commission of India follow the Constitution.

The eligibility to become a voter has been determined in Article 326 of the Constitution. In which only Indian citizens above 18 years of age and general residents of that constituency are eligible to become voters.

Election Commission gave these orders to political parties

According to the commission, out of the 7.89 crore voters in the state, there are 4.96 crore voters whose names are already in the last intensive revision of the voter list on January 1, 2003, who just have to verify, fill the counting form and submit it. Along with this, the commission has asked all the recognized national and state level political parties to prominently connect their booth level agents to this campaign.

Earlier in 2003, intensive verification of voter list was done

At present, these political parties have appointed about 1.54 lakh agents (BLAs). Also, according to the need, they can appoint more BLAs. For verification, messages are also being sent to the registered mobile numbers of 5.74 lakh voters of Bihar. Let us tell you that earlier in Bihar, intensive verification of voter list was done in 2003.
