Frustrated by the defeat, a captain has left the captaincy of the Test team in the middle of the tour. The cricket world is also surprised by this news. In fact, Nazmul Hussain Shanto has left the captaincy of the Bangladeshi Test team in the middle of the Sri Lanka tour after losing the Test series. Bangladesh had to face defeat by an innings and 78 runs in the second Test match against Sri Lanka. With this, the visiting team lost the series 0-1, after which Nazmul Hussain Shanto surprised everyone by announcing to leave the Test captaincy of Bangladesh.

The captain could not bear the defeat

In the press conference after the match on Saturday, Nazmul Hussain Shanto said, ‘I no longer want to work as a captain in the Test format. I have taken this decision for the betterment of the team. I think this will help the team. I have been a part of the dressing room for the last few years. I think three captains (for three international formats) is not wise. I don’t know what the board will think about this. I will support the board’s decision, but this is my personal decision. I think it will be difficult for the team to deal with three different captains.

Suddenly left the captaincy of the Test team

Nazmul Hussain Shanto insisted that his decision should not be seen as emotional or a reaction to the recent series defeat. He said, ‘I want no one to think that this decision is emotional, or that I am disappointed with something. I want to make it clear. This is for the betterment of the team.’ Along with this, Shanto has revealed that he had already informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board of his intention a few days ago.
