Uttarakhand: Irrigation department is ready for monsoon, Maharaj said that sensitive areas are under observation

In view of the monsoon season, the Uttarakhand government has completed preparations for flood control and disaster management. On Saturday, Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj gave this information after a meeting with the officials of the Irrigation Department at his camp office on Subhash Road.

24×7 control room active in every district

Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj said that flood control rooms have been set up in the nodal block of every district of the state, whose in-charge will be the Executive Engineer of the concerned block. A central flood control room has also been set up in the irrigation block complex located in Dehradun, whose phone number is 9411554658 and it will be active 24×7.

WhatsApp group created for exchange of information

At the state level, the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Works Board Dehradun has been nominated as the departmental nodal officer. The minister said that for the rapid exchange of information related to floods, the department has also created a WhatsApp group, in which state and district level officers are connected. All officers should be available on mobile 24 hours.

Siren systems installed to warn people

Minister Satpal Maharaj said that a total of 113 flood posts have been established in the state. 304 sensitive places have also been identified. Maharaj said that siren systems have also been installed to warn people living in the downstream areas of all the major rivers, barrages and reservoirs of the state.
