‘RSS-BJP want Manusmriti, not Constitution’, Shashi Tharoor comes to Rahul Gandhi’s defence!

a
Congress leader and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had said that BJP-RSS want Manusmriti instead of Constitution. When BJP raised questions on this statement, Rahul Gandhi got the support of Shashi Tharoor. Tharoor said that the Rae Bareli MP said this because at the time of adoption of the Constitution, it was criticized.
Shashi Tharoor said, ‘Historically he (Rahul Gandhi) is referring to the fact that at the time of adoption of the Constitution, this criticism was expressed. At that time, RSS chief Golwalkar, along with others, had said that one of the biggest flaws of the Constitution is that it has nothing from Manusmriti.’
RSS has moved on from those days: Shashi Tharoor
The Thiruvananthapuram MP said, ‘However, I think the RSS itself has moved on from those days. Therefore, as a historical statement it is accurate, whether it is a reflection of their feelings today. RSS should be in the best position to respond to this.’
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
The Congress leader had posted on X, reacting to RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement, “RSS’s mask is off again. Constitution offends them because it talks about equality, secularism and justice. RSS-BJP doesn’t want Constitution, they want Manusmriti. They want to make Bahujans and poor people slaves again by snatching their rights. Their real agenda is to snatch away a powerful weapon like Constitution from them. RSS should stop dreaming – we will never let them succeed. Every patriotic Indian will protect Constitution till his last breath.”
