There has been a change in these rules related to railways

Indian Railways has announced many changes. Which will make the ticket booking system better. These rules are going to be implemented from July 1, 2025. Which includes new rules for Tatkal ticket booking, preparation of chart first for waitlisted passengers and Passenger Reservation System (PRS) etc.
Let us tell you that recently Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reviewed these new rules. He said that it is very important to make the ticket booking system smart, user-friendly, transparent. These new rules are to provide convenience and comfort to the passengers.
Rules will also be changed for Tatkal tickets
From July 1, 2025, only verified users will be able to book tickets from IRCTC website or app for Tatkal ticket booking. For which it is necessary that your IRCTC account is verified with Aadhaar. Along with this, from July itself, OTP verification on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar will be made mandatory for Tatkal booking. This has been taken to stop black marketing and misuse of tickets. Due to which it will be easy for the right passengers to get tickets at the last moment.
Change in the time of reservation chart
Railways has given a big relief to the waitlisted passengers. To reduce their problems, the time of reservation chart has also been changed. Currently, the reservation chart is prepared four hours before the train departs. But now this time has been increased to eight hours instead of four. That is, now the passengers will know eight hours in advance whether their seat is reserved or not. This will make it easier for waiting list passengers or passengers with RAC tickets to prepare for the journey. This change will be implemented gradually.
Work is going on on the new PRS system
Along with this, the PRS i.e. Passenger Reservation System of Railways will also be fully upgraded by December 2025. The Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) is working on this. The new PRS will be able to take 10 times more load than the existing system. In simple language, currently the system books 32 thousand tickets per minute. So the new system will have the capacity to book more than 1.5 lakh tickets in a minute. Apart from this, the capacity of enquiry for ticket related information will also be increased from 4 lakh to 40 lakh per minute.
