The US has decided to stop the supply of special weapons to Ukraine. These weapons include air defense systems, artillery shells and air-to-air missiles. The US’s move to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine has been taken at a time when Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian cities. Russia has recently carried out several major missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. In such a situation, these weapons of America are very important to protect against Russian attacks.

According to the Politico report, the reason for the Pentagon (US Department of Defense) stopping the shipment of weapons to Ukraine is the depleting stock of American weapons. After a review of the weapons stock by Pentagon policy chief Elbridge Colby, there was concern that the total number of artillery rounds, air defense missiles and precision weapons was decreasing. After this, the consignment of PAC3 Patriot systems, 155 mm artillery rounds, GMLRS, Stinger, AIM-7 and Hellfire missiles to be sent to Ukraine has been stopped.

Ukraine’s concern will increase

The US has stopped the supply of Patriot missile systems, precision artillery shells, Hellfire and other missiles. Ukraine fires these missiles at Russia through F-16 fighter jets and avoids Russian attacks through air defense. Russia recently fired 477 drones and 60 missiles at Ukraine. If Russia launches a similar major attack again in the coming times, Ukraine will be in crisis. In such a situation, the Volodymyr Zelensky government of Ukraine may have to reconsider its strategy against Russia.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly, the official residence and office of the US President, has said in a statement that this decision has been taken to keep America’s interests paramount after reviewing our country’s military cooperation and assistance to other countries around the world. This ban on the supply of weapons reflects the priorities of the Trump administration.

What are the experts saying

Tom Karako of the Center for Strategic and International Studies says that the Pentagon’s decision will increase the weakness of the Ukrainian army. He said that air defense does not make you win the war but its lack can make you lose quickly. Many members of the US Parliament have also expressed concern over this because they feel that if Ukraine does not get weapons, it will lose to Russia.

Marcy Capter said on this that the air defense system made in America, especially the Patriot system, remains the center of Ukraine’s defense. These systems save the lives of many people every day. If the supply of this system is stopped, it can lead to the death of many Ukrainian soldiers and civilians. In such a situation, the Trump administration of America should think about it again.
