As always, the entire process should be done according to tradition.” He has given the responsibility of finding his successor to the Gaden Phodrang Trust. This organization will monitor the entire process.

The Dalai Lama has said that for the last 14 years, he has been receiving repeated requests from Tibet, the expatriate Tibetan community and many Buddhist followers in Asia such as China, Mongolia and Russia to continue the tradition of the Dalai Lama. In view of all these appeals, he has now made it clear that the tradition of the Dalai Lama will continue, but it will be completely according to religious and cultural rules, and not under any political pressure.
