From today, the second Test will be played between India and England at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham. Shubman Gill and team are trailing 0-1 in the series. A day earlier on Tuesday, when the players were practicing, they were sent to the hotel. Everyone was instructed that no one would leave the hotel, security was also increased.

On Tuesday, there was a stir after a suspicious package was found in Centenary Square in Birmingham. After this, security was increased outside Team India’s hotel. On Tuesday, the Indian players had an optional practice session, in which 8 players including captain Shubman Gill participated. Birmingham City Center Police instructed the Indian team to stay in the hotel.

Since reaching England, Indian players are planning to roam in the area near the hotel. In Leeds too, players were seen roaming in the area near the hotel, the players themselves shared its photos on social media.

Birmingham city centre police wrote in an X post: “We have increased security around Centenary Square in Birmingham city centre. We are investigating a suspicious package. We were alerted at around 3pm and as a precaution a number of buildings have been evacuated while this is being investigated. Please avoid the area.”
