It has been only one day since the new rule of Tatkal Ticket Booking came into force in trains and its effect is clearly visible. On routes like Bihar, Banaras, where Tatkal ticket booking was considered no less than a boon, now seats are seen vacant in trains here. The passengers themselves are giving this information by tagging Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on social media. Sharing this information, the Railway Minister said that people are themselves telling him the benefits of the new rule of Tatkal ticket.
Indian Railways has implemented a new rule regarding Tatkal ticket booking from July 1. Under this, Aadhaar will now be required to book Tatkal tickets. Tatkal ticket booking will not be possible without Aadhaar authentication. Railways has taken this step to curb the ongoing fraud regarding Tatkal tickets. Till now, agents used to book Tatkal tickets in bulk, due to which the common man was not able to get tickets here quickly. Now the railways have put a check on this fraud by making Aadhaar authentication mandatory and its effect has also started showing.
Seats are now appearing vacant
Whereas the tatkal ticket seats in Delhi-Bihar trains used to get filled in a few minutes before July 1, now the seats are appearing vacant on the IRCTC website on these routes as well. The tatkal quota seats in trains going from Delhi to Bihar, Banaras and Lucknow are also appearing vacant now. These seats appear vacant long after the tatkal booking opens, which earlier used to get filled in just a few minutes.
Agents will not be able to do booking for 30 minutes
Railways had changed the rules of tatkal ticket booking and stopped the agents from doing booking for the first 30 minutes. Apart from this, after July 15, those booking tatkal tickets from the window will also have to provide Aadhaar. Under the new rule, Tatkal tickets for AC class can be booked between 10 am and 11 am, in which the agent will get the opportunity to book only after 10.30. The time for non-AC ticket booking will be from 11 am to 12 pm, in which the agent will be given the opportunity to book only after 11.30.
What did the Railway Minister say
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that after making Aadhaar mandatory for Tatkal tickets, tickets are being made available in trains going to many states including UP and Bihar and people are also informing them about this by sending messages. Passengers say that after the new rule of Tatkal booking, it has become very easy for them to book train tickets in an emergency. Till now most of the passengers used to depend on the agent for Tatkal tickets.
